In the early 1970’s, three friends came together in Key West, Florida, united by their passion for history and their desire to preserve the historic look and feel of Old Town Key West. Chris Belland, Ed Swift, and Mo Mosher first worked together restoring the historic storefronts of Duval Street in the heart of Key West. As visitors began to flock to Key West, there was an increased interest in the colorful history of the town. Recognizing this as an opportunity to tell Key West’s story, the three partners formed Old Town Trolley Tours®, a tour company that both informs and entertains its guests. When Old Town Trolley Tours first started out, the company consisted of a converted bread truck with a homemade trailer. As the tours became more popular, the company was able buy a new fleet of trolleys, which was launched in 1980. Over the next year, more than 70,000 passengers toured Key West with Old Town Trolley. As Chris, Ed, and Mo traveled the country, admiring the architecture and history of many of America’s great cities, they were inspired to expand their business. Starting with Boston and eventually adding St. Augustine, San Diego, Savannah, Nashville, San Antonio, and Washington, DC, Old Town Trolley Tours® now boasts over 190 trolleys in 8 cities. Though the company has grown, its mission to help visitors “See the Best First” has stayed the same. Along with a commitment to quality, Old Town Trolley combines history, fun facts, colorful anecdotes, and outstanding service to provide their guests with a memorable vacation experience.

This was a great tour. We had Smiley as a driver and he didn't disappoint. He was selected the best driver out of 75 others and you can tell why when on his tour. Smiley was very knowledgeable and I don't think we passed a building or monument he didn't address or tell you some history about. If Undercover Boss came to take a tour, this is they guy they select to teach all the drivers tour guides. The White House did select him to take out of country dignitaries when they wanted to take a trolley. Don't worry, he will show you. The 6:30pm (last tour) tour was amazing and you get a few stops to get out and see MLK, the Marine Corps Memorial and Lincoln's memorial with the Vietnam memorial. The cost is a bit high at $64 for the two and half hour trip, but Smiley help make it worth it. It's the best way to see it all in a short trip to DC. The daytime hop on/off would be better if you have more time. We flew in just after 2:00pm and after and early dinner we took an ride-share to the trolley start. Get your souvenirs before the late tour as it will be closed when you get back.
Our experience with Old Town Trolley Tours in Washington, DC was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, the tour exceeded our expectations, and we can't recommend it enough. One of the highlights of the tour was undoubtedly the knowledgeable and friendly tour guides. Their passion for the city and its history was evident in every word they spoke, making the experience not only informative but also incredibly engaging and entertaining. Throughout the tour, we were treated to fascinating insights and stories about Washington, DC's iconic landmarks and historical sites. From the majestic monuments to the hidden gems tucked away in charming neighborhoods, the tour provided a comprehensive overview of the city's rich history and vibrant culture. We particularly enjoyed the Monuments by Moonlight tour, which offered a unique and enchanting perspective of the city's most famous monuments illuminated against the night sky. Additionally, we were impressed by the tour guides' ability to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the tour, even with children onboard. They skillfully managed to make sure everyone could hear their fascinating commentary by politely asking children to be quiet when necessary, ensuring that all guests could fully enjoy and appreciate the tour experience. Overall, Old Town Trolley Tours provided an unforgettable way to experience Washington, DC. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime resident looking to rediscover the city's magic, this tour is a must-do. Thank you to the wonderful tour guides for making our experience truly memorable!
Just finished the Monuments by Moonlight tour and our guide was Byron - what an amazing experience we had! Byron is super knowledgeable AND so funny! He kept the entire group entertained the entire time with knowledge about so many sites around DC and even sang a few songs with us! He truly made the experience unforgettable and well worth every penny! I see other reviews and it sounds like all of the guides are great, but I don’t know how anyone could be better than Byron! The time seemed to go quick because we were having so much fun. Byron - you are 1000% in your element as a tour guide - keep up the great work!
