Purple Light Vacations was created in 2013 as a new and unique LGBT owned and operated travel agency. Its goal was to provide clients with added value at no cost, such as personalized and customized service, valuable trip advice, and destination insights including tips from locals (that are not in the guidebooks).
Purple Light Vacations was created in 2013 as a new and unique LGBT owned and operated travel agency. Its goal was to provide clients with added value at no cost, such as personalized and customized service, valuable trip advice, and destination insights including tips from locals (that are not in the guidebooks). We have received very positive responses in our first ten years of being in business, and were even nominated for a Nicky Award for “Outstanding New Business” in San Diego. Purple Light Vacations is a member of the Travel Leaders network, a consortium that has established relationships with travel industry vendors like hotels, cruise lines and tour companies among others. Our Travel Leaders membership allows us to often obtain our clients special deals, additional amenities, perks and upgrades that they would not obtain by booking on their own. Jonathan and Dave, the two principals of Purple Light Vacations, bring a great deal of travel experience, training, and credentials to the business. They have been to sixty six countries and six continents, and add to that list every year. They have been on well over 40 cruises on virtually all of the major cruise lines for both mainstream cruises and LGBT charters. Jonathan holds multiple industry certifications. He holds a travel agent certification from Career Quest, and an advanced certification from the American Association of Travel Advisors (ASTA Verified Travel Agent Certification). He also holds the highest certification of Elite Cruise Consultant from the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), as well as their Accredited and Master Cruise Consultant certifications.

I am 29 years old and no one I know my age has ever used a travel agent. Travel agents are things of the past and why would I use one when I could do everything myself on the internet? This is what I thought before working with Purple Light Vacations, and now I want to shout from the rooftops how incredibly helpful travel agents are, especially Jonathan from Purple Light Vacations. I am a meticulous planner, but found myself overwhelmed when trying to plan a trip across the world to India and Thailand. I reached out to Jonathan and the rest is history and I have told all of my friends that they must contact him for their next trip.
Jonathan has gone out of his way each time we have used Purple Light Vacations! We always know we will get the best price and best location on a ship or at a hotel. Our favorite part is the destination guides that he provides so we can know the best of each city. Grateful for all of Jonathan’s help!
Jonathan went above and beyond to make our three week honeymoon in Southeast Asia the trip of a lifetime! During our planning session, Jonathan asked thoughtful questions about our interests and tastes so that he could select the hotels and tours best suited to our personalities. He was also particulaly sensitive to our needs as a gay couple, and recommended locations that would be LGBTQ-friendly. Unlike other travel agents we consulted, Jonathan was perfectly happy to work within our budget. Despite the complicated logistics of our trip (8 different cities), Jonathan made the process seamless for us and provided an extremely helpful trip schedule as well as destination guides for each city. Throughout our journey, Jonathan checked in with us at each destination ironed out any last minute details with the tour operators. All of the recommended hotels were gorgeous, and we were treated especially well since Jonathan notified them that were were celebrating our honeymoon. We would highly recommend Purple Light Vacations to anyone looking to plan a special trip!
